Congratulations to Elvin Chen for successfully defending his Master's thesis "Characterizing Resilience of LEO Satellite Networks Against Disasters"!
Elvin's research investigated the resilience and fault tolerance of Low Earth Orbit satellite networks during disaster scenarios. As LEO constellations like Starlink become critical infrastructure for global connectivity, understanding how these networks perform during catastrophic events is essential. His work analyzes how satellite constellations maintain connectivity and service continuity when faced with disasters, providing insights into their reliability as backup or primary communication infrastructure in emergency situations.
The thesis was supervised by Nitinder Mohan, Arash Asadi, and Tanya Shreedhar, and contributes to SPEAR Lab's ongoing research in satellite networking and internet measurements.
We wish Elvin all the best in his future endeavors!
